Moody Bar Model Shoot
In this post, I’ll take you through the behind-the-scenes of the photoshoot, share some of my favorite shots, and discuss the techniques and equipment I used to capture them.
Firstly, I’d like to talk a little bit about 92 Beverage Co. It’s a fantastic venue with a lot of character, boasting exposed brick walls, dim lighting, and a wide variety of drinks. The atmosphere is perfect for a moody and dramatic photoshoot, which is exactly what we set out to do.
Secondly, a big shout out to Miss Friend Photography for inviting me out on this adventure! She is a phenomenal photographer here in the Grande Prairie area, shooting Pin-up and nailing it! Make sure to check her out!
For this shoot, there were two photographers shooting one model – we focused on capturing her in a variety of poses at the main bar. We started with some classic shots of the models standing and siting at the bar, then sipping on cocktails.
To achieve the right lighting and mood for the shoot, we used the natural light of the full front windows. The bar’s lighting is dim and moody, which helped to create the right atmosphere, couple that with the beautiful day light and you have some extra drama and highlight on the model.
I shot these images using my Rootin’ Tootin’ Point and Shootin Canon EOS 6D Mark II, which is a full-frame DSLR camera that produces high-quality images with excellent detail and color accuracy. For this shoot, I used a variety of lenses, including a 16-35mm lens for wider shots and a 70-200mm zoom lens for more compressed close up image.
One of my favorite shots from the shoot is of the model smiling into her drink, looking off into the distance. I shot this while she was talking and posing for the other photographer and love the way it turned out. The colors of the bar in the background add a pop of color to the image, making it stand out even more.
Overall, I’m really happy with how the shoot turned out. The model was fantastic to work with, and the location was perfect for creating a moody, dramatic vibe. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend checking out 92 Beverage Co – not only is it a great place to grab a drink, but it’s also a fantastic spot to take a few photos!
